In 2002, I was approached by the Dixie Business Alliance to redesign their logo. They wanted a logo that was clean and representative of the southern Utah area. As an organization that develops and promotes successful business growth in the area, the logo needed a clean, corporate feel to it. It needed to be readily recognizable throughout the community with an iconic image. The organization was well known by it’s initials, DBA, making it critical to incorporate this element in the logo design. Shown above are black and white and color versions in a variety of arrangements that were developed for versatility.

We utilized an abstract representation of the red rock stone cliffs that are synonymous with the southern Utah area. The initials, DBA, were incorporate in the lower right corner of the iconic logo block and are reminiscent of the St. George Sugar Loaf that bears the “DIXIE” name. The color scheme of rust red and grey were chosen for the visual tie with the area while remaining classic, timeless, and business friendly.

The logotype featuring the name of the organization and their slogan can be used to the side of the logo block, stacked centered under the logo block, or logo block can be used alone depending on the design requirements of the piece it is being included in. This provides a high level of versatility since the logo is used on a variety of partner publications. A strong black and white version was developed as part of the package to facilitate faxing, copying and single color uses.
